The Question
Virtual reality is increasingly used at the Police Academy. Currently eleven modules have been developed of which VR Owl has helped with CPR, domestic violence and a shooting training course. In the most recent project, the Police Academy was looking for a method to train forensic investigation with multiple participants at the same time.
The Solution
We developed a multiplayer virtual reality training course in which students and instructors can practice investigating traces alone or together. The instructor can create a scenario, place traces after which the student must recognize and identify them by means of numbered signs

Scenarios
Virtual reality is increasingly used at the Police Academy. Currently eleven modules have been developed of which VR Owl has helped with CPR, domestic violence and a shooting training course. In the most recent project, the Police Academy was looking for a method to train forensic investigation with multiple participants at the same time.
The environment
The training takes place in a Dutch residential area where both a day and night scenario is possible. The investigation takes place around a two-story house with various rooms in which traces can be found
The evidence
The instructor can use a menu to choose from various tracks such as weapons, blood, money and bullet holes. These can be placed anywhere, such as on the floor, on furniture, but also on the window in the case of bullet hole

Singleplayer
The training can be carried out both independently and with others. In the single player scenario, students can train a scenario at any location. Afterwards they are shown which traces they have found and missed.
Multiplayer
In the multiplayer environment, ten participants can train simultaneously, one instructor and a maximum of nine trainees. They can communicate using hand gestures and the built-in microphone.
