Project

How we helped Evides create VR training for critical technical procedures.

The Client
Evides Waterbedrijf is a Dutch utility company responsible for delivering clean and safe drinking water to households and businesses. In addition to water delivery, Evides is also committed to the safety, maintenance, and modernization of its infrastructure. To improve internal training procedures and reduce the risk of human error during critical technical operations, Evides looked to virtual reality as an innovative training solution.

The Challenge

How can Evides provide its technical staff with a realistic and repeatable training experience for both existing and new technical procdures—without the risk of costly errors or damage? The company needed hands-on, guided VR training to simulate this high-risk procedure in a safe and effective way, while improving knowledge retention and decision-making under time pressure.

The Solution

VR Owl developed an interactive VR training that guides users step-by-step through the process of freezing and maintaining water pipes. The training includes a short tutorial, visual highlights for tools and objects, and real-time feedback based on user actions.

Starting with a small Proof of Concept procedure, we are already extending the current VR training with multiple scenarios in which the end-user can practice with a full on guidance system, but also test their knowledge in a real exam mode!

Players must work under time pressure to prevent pipes from thawing or the room from flooding, using realistic tools like a freezing set, wrench, and oxygen meter. The simulation combines clear guidance with gamified elements to create an engaging and effective learning experience.

ROI and Results

The “Pillars to Success” booth, with its VR experience and focus on the four domains of talent development (Money, knowledge, career and image), effectively communicates how Talent Centraal supports athletes in achieving their ultimate dreams.  The initiative also includes distributing Google Cardboard VR viewers as a memorable alternative to traditional flyers, extending the reach and engagement of the Talent Centraal message.
