How we helped a VR onboarding video that gives new VWS employees an engaging introduction to their workplace and its key institutions.

Question

The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) is in the process of modernizing and updating its onboarding program for new employees. To introduce staff to their new working environment in a fresh and effective way, VWS sought to use a suitable VR solution. VR Owl was asked to contribute ideas for the format, content, and production of this onboarding tool.

Solution

In the ten-minute video, three employees from the ministry guide the viewer through familiar locations related to the ministry’s work. The video begins with an introduction in which the three colleagues present themselves and the organization. Next, a policy officer takes the viewer to the Binnenhof, the ministry building, and even the minister’s office.

The second part of the video brings the viewer to the RIVM. Employees explain their responsibilities and tasks, offering a behind-the-scenes look inside the laboratory.

In the third part, the viewer is taken to Utrecht, where information is provided about the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate. The video concludes at the same location where it began, with a message of encouragement from the three featured colleagues.

ROI and Results

A comprehensive video that informs new employees in an effective and innovative way about the diversity of the organization.

Staff gain a clear understanding of many activities that usually take place behind closed doors. The onboarding provides better insight, increased engagement, and a strong start for new colleagues at the ministry.
