Hortus & Floriade – AR Maquette
The Client
At the world horticultural exhibition Floriade Expo 2022, you will discover solutions that make cities more fun, more beautiful and more sustainable. The exhibition only takes place once every ten years, which makes it a special occasion. Afterwards, the new housing estate Hortus, developed by Amvest and Dura Vermeer, will rise on the site.
The Question
During Floriade, tens of thousands of visitors will come to the Floriade and the client was looking for a way to inform these visitors about the future of the place in an impressive way. The solution had to be easily accessible, interactive and innovative. Moreover, it was important that every visitor could view the floor plans.
The Solution
VR Owl has developed a web-based augmented reality solution where after scanning one of the two floor plans, the surroundings come to life in 3D. This way, users can both see the entire Hortus district and zoom in on the Pharus residential tower.
Optimisation
This project used existing technical drawings from the supplier that were optimised for WebAR by our 3D team. In this process, each 3D model is checked and unnecessary details are removed while ensuring quality.
Presentation
A special area has been set up at the Floriade for the presentation of the Amvest projects. Here, visitors can see large, 2D floor plans of the future plans and find more information about the future of the terrain.
The Experience
Visitors simply use their own smartphone or tablet, scan the QR code and go to the site where the 3D maquette comes to life via the camera.
