Agrico | VR Experience
The VR experience developed for Agrico effectively communicates the complex process of breeding disease-resistant potato varieties, enhancing transparency, trust, and stakeholder engagement while showcasing Agrico’s leadership in agricultural innovation.
The Client
Agrico is a cooperative of potato growers focused on the development of new potato varieties, specifically “Next Generation” potato breeds with improved resistance to diseases such as the Phytophthora fungus.
The Question
Agrico needed a method to effectively communicate the complex process of developing these Next Generation potato varieties to their stakeholders. They wanted to showcase the intricate breeding process, with a focus on how they use PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) to cultivate disease-resistant potatoes. The objective was to enhance transparency and foster trust in their innovative techniques. The specific challenge was to create an engaging experience that could explain this sophisticated process in an accessible manner, using VR, interactivity, a duration of three to four minutes, and targeting Agrico’s stakeholders.
The Solution
VR Owl developed an interactive 3D virtual reality experience to provide Agrico’s stakeholders with an immersive view of their breeding process. The VR experience allows users to explore a virtual potato field, participate in sample collection, transition to a virtual lab, and engage with the PCR process. It incorporates voice-over guidance, 3D environments, interactions with objects, 3D animations, and quizzes.
Content VR Training
The VR experience functions as a training tool by offering an engaging and educational walkthrough of the potato breeding process. It communicates complex scientific procedures clearly and interactively, making the information understandable and memorable.
