The Client
PI Zutphen is a correctional facility in the Netherlands, part of the national prison system. Like many other penitentiary institutions, PI Zutphen faces a significant labor shortage and seeks new ways to attract and inform potential employees.
The Question
With a growing need for personnel, PI Zutphen wanted to create a compelling and realistic recruitment experience that would enthuse potential candidates while providing an authentic look into daily life inside the prison. The solution needed to be immersive, engaging, and effective in showcasing different career opportunities within the facility.
The Solution
VR Owl developed the PI Zutphen VR Recruitment Experience, an interactive tour that provides a realistic look at working in the prison. The experience starts with a prison director guiding users through security, explaining key aspects of the facility with infographic overlays. Users then choose a career path and experience a typical workday, guided by an employee who explains their role and responsibilities. Tasks include security procedures, supervising inmates, and daily operations. The session ends with a realistic end-of-shift moment, where the guide asks, “See you tomorrow?”, while a job vacancy and werkenbijdji.nl appear on screen, encouraging applications.
